The TL-SF1005P is a 5-port 10/100Mbps unmanaged switch, so it requires no configuration and provides 4 PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports. It automatically detects and supplies power to devices that support the IEEE 802.3af standard. In this case, power is transmitted along with data via an Ethernet cable, allowing you to expand your network to areas without power cords or outlets, where you want to install devices such as Access Points, IP Cameras or IP Phones, etc.
Overload Protection
The TL-SF1005P features a priority function* that helps protect equipment when the system power supply is overloaded. If the power consumption of all PoE equipment is greater than or equal to 58W, a power priority is set among the PoE ports, and the switch will cut off power to the port with the lowest priority.
Priority Function in Ports
Priority (Port 1 > Port 2 > Port 3 > Port 4): This feature helps protect your system under normal working conditions, which means Port 4 will stop supplying power when the total power of all powered equipment exceeds 58W. For example, Ports 1, 2, and 4 are using 15.4W (the maximum power per port is 15.4W), so the system power is 46.2W in total. If an additional PoE device consuming 10W is connected to Port 3, the equipment will turn off the power to Port 4 to protect itself. In this way, Ports 1 and 2 will consume 15.4W, Port 3 will use 12W, and no power will be supplied to Port 4.
