Description
The DGS-1008P Gigabit PoE Desktop Switch is a cost-effective solution for SMBs and home offices, which, thanks to the advantages of PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology, allows users to connect devices such as access points Connect wireless routers, network cameras or IP phones directly with network cables. The DGS-1008P features Gigabit ports for maximum speed, and integrates D-Link's Green Ethernet technology to save power when the switch is not in use. Its fanless design makes it completely silent, making it ideal for offices, libraries or meeting rooms.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) Plug and Play
The first four ports on the DGS-1008P support the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. Each of these four ports can supply up to 15.4W, making it ideal for use in locations far from electrical outlets, or when the need to minimize the need for extra power supplies. The Switch will automatically detect the power required by a PoE device connected to it, so no configuration is required. A safety mechanism will cut off the power if a PoE overload occurs, protecting both the Switch and the device connected to it.
Cable diagnostic function
Each time the DGS-1008P is powered on, it runs a micro-diagnostic routine to check the integrity of the Ethernet cables connected to it. If any fault is detected, the Switch will indicate this via the front panel LED indicators, making it easier for the user to troubleshoot cabling issues.
QoS (Quality of Service)
Despite being a plug-and-play, unmanaged switch, the DGS-1008P can classify network traffic by evaluating the 802.1p and DSCP fields in Ethernet frames and IP packets respectively, and redirect them out of ports based on priority. This allows data, voice, and video traffic to be seamlessly integrated without delay or loss of quality.
Energy saving technology
The DGS-1008P is part of D-Link Green, D-Link’s environmentally friendly technology that offers energy savings, lower power consumption and longer product life without compromising performance or functionality. This switch implements Green Ethernet technology, which can result in significant energy savings by sensing the length of the cables connected to it and adjusting the power accordingly; and port state, which puts it into standby mode, low power, when it detects no network traffic. These power reductions have allowed us to eliminate fans in the design of the DGS-1008P, making it a quiet device and significantly increasing its lifespan.
