Using the Apple Find My ecosystem, you can easily track the location of your item. If you are nearby, select 'Play Sound' in the app and follow the beep to find your lost item. You can also select the lost item in the app and locate it on a map. The entire process is anonymous and encrypted to protect your privacy.
