At first, life on the island will seem a bit rudimentary, with only a tent and your essential Nookphone. But don't worry! With a little practice, you can turn the island into the perfect home. As they say: the best way to do things right is to do them yourself.
Find DIY projects and then gather the necessary materials. Create everyday tools or outdoor furniture to make life easier for everyone. Decorate the island with your creative side, or build bridges, paths, access ramps and rivers to shape the land however you want. All of this will take time, but then you can show off your island as much as you want!
The more the merrier!
The beauty of turning your island into a true paradise is being able to share it with others! At first, there will only be a couple of inhabitants, but as you improve the island, more will arrive. Help them settle in and lend a hand with chores, send them gifts, organize photo shoots on Photopia Island, and much more. Who has a friend, has a treasure!
And that’s not all: up to eight people with a user profile on a single Nintendo Switch console can live on the same island, and up to four can enjoy island life at the same time*. You can also play with up to seven other users locally or online**, either by travelling to their islands or inviting them to yours. Give gifts, compete in bug hunting, or just hang out with friends!

Time passes and seasons change, inhabitants go about their daily business… Life on the island goes on even when you’re not playing. Enjoy the wonders of each season in your new home!
